Real-time environments are useful when a presenter or visitor needs to choose where to move and what to examine during a discussion. A fixed film may be sufficient when the required explanation follows a known sequence and does not depend on audience input.

Define the accessible areas, navigation method, interactive options and target equipment before production. A large environment with many configurable states requires different preparation from a guided presentation with a limited set of views.
How should performance be evaluated?
Review the experience on the intended hardware and under the expected presentation conditions. Assess the responsiveness of controls, visual legibility and movement through the environment together, because a detailed scene is useful only if the audience can examine it reliably.
